I can not remember a time in my life before I fished.
I still hold onto so many fond memories from my very young days of fishing with my dad and grandpa at our family cottage in northern Michigan.
Over time my passion and my curiosity in regards to fishing continued to grow. I wasn’t just driven to fish. I was driven to understand the fish. With each fish I caught, I wanted to know why I caught it. What did I do that made that cast more successful than the last?
Through the years I didn’t just spend lots of time on the water, I spent lots of time studying my target species, learning as much as I could about their habits and habitats.
As my knowledge grew, my consistency in catching bass did as well. To a point where my friends talked me into entering my first tournament on my hometown lake. I soon found success and progressed into entering various other tournament series on local waters and eventually in several other states as well. I became hooked on the competition of bringing in the biggest bag.
Through tournament fishing, I haven’t just win prizes, I have gained numerous treasured friendships as well. Some of my closest and longest lasting friendships have been built through fishing. For that I am thankful and blessed.
Since becoming a father, I have enjoyed sharing my love of the water with both my son and daughter. It brings me much joy to come full circle in passing on the fishing bug to my own children, just as my father and grandfather had done for me.
